Gage Crowell picked up his second fourth place finish of the season Friday at the Southern Valley Invite.

Coach Chad Cochran said he was happy with how his wrestler competed at the Invite, especially considering that it was a large tournament.

With 15 teams involved, 11 athletes were in Crowell’s 170 pound bracket.

“This was a round robin tournament so each wrestler had a chance to get five matches, but Gage drew a bye first round so only wrestled four times,” said Cochran.

Wrestler were divided into four three-man pools. Crowell was the top wrestler of his pool, with the top two coming out to the winners bracket to wrestle for 1st - 8th place, added Cochran.

Crowell has yet to go past the two-minute mark in any of his matches, winning two by pin and losing two by pin in the 1st period.

Crowell and Cochran will head to Cambridge Saturday for the Cambridge Invite. Nineteen teams will participate with wrestlers placed in 16-man brackets.
