New village board members, Al Wilkins, Ann Grasser and Ted Grimm, were sworn in at Dec. 10 meeting. Stepping down were Lloyd Sinner, Otis Knotwell and Marv Hamilton. Tony Cribelli and Rod Rector remain on the board.
Ed and AnnaBelle Vapenik were honored on their 50th anniversary Saturday, Nov. 30 with a dinner and polka dance with all their children and grandchildren in attendance. In addition to the party, their marriage was blessed at Sunday Mass with Father Greg Pawlowski administering the blessing.
Michelle Harchelroad visited Sydnee’s kindergarten class Friday and helped make gingerbread houses.
The James Skeltons, Tony Walkers, Mike Christners and Loran Hurst attended the after-harvest supper at the Loran Wach home Friday.
Jan and Gary DeWester hosted a dinner Sunday in honor of Wynona Springer on her 80th birthday. Guests were Kim and Carla Fassler, Danny and Kelly Fassler and family, all of Culbertson; Brian and Michelle Harchelroad and family, Chad and Jennifer DeWester and Bonnie and Shirley Mullanix.
Judy and Rudy Evers spent Friday to Sunday with Anita and Mert Smith in Seward. They went to see Sarah Harrison play basketball at Concordia College and also attended the volleyball game at the University of Nebraska.
Violet Long, Hilda Roschewski and Betty Fortkamp attended the musical, “Unto Us a Child is Born,” Sunday at Imperial, featuring the combined McCook and Imperial area choirs, the I.G.S. fourth grade choir and combined handbell choir. Wilva Harchelroad, Lucille McBride and Lois and Marlin Wine also attended.
Ron and Nancy Baumfalk were Friday overnight guests of Dorothy and Bob Baumfalk. Saturday they attended the 90th birthday party for Ruby Tatum a Julesburg, Colo.

Merrill and Emma Jean Maris and June Cox were Saturday evening card guests of Erma Kitt. Orla Kitt, Brandie Jo and Marcie of Ogallala were evening callers.
Zora Sailors entertained 12 ladies at a coffee hour honoring Marjorie Fletcher, a long time resident of the area, who will be moving to California.
The young card club group of Blanche had a surprise birthday party for Jack Fanning’s 40th birthday Friday evening held at the Blanche Church. Attending were Linda, Ki and Heidi, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Coleman, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Osler and boys, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Smith and family and Mr. and Mrs. Harlow Hill and family.
The Kitt families’ reunion was held at Wauneta’s Legion Hall Nov. 28 with 82 present enjoying a carry-in dinner, music, games and visiting.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Kennedy attended the Christmas program of Misty, Marcy and Micah, children of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Kennedy, in North Platte Sunday evening.

Dale Wicke was selected as the 1963 International Farm Youth Exchange delegate. Mary McHargue of Central City was also selected. The countries to be visited have not been announced. Each delegate sent overseas must spend seven months and must have a farming background.
Airman 1c Jim Greeley of Greenland is home on a 30-day leave and is visiting family in McCook, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Greeley and other relatives.
Mrs. Ruby Kennedy entertained a group of her neighbors at a pre-Christmas coffee Monday afternoon.
Richard Bridgman of York and Gerald Bridgman of Nashville are visiting in the Howard Bridgman home. Howards have moved into their new home and the Bud Main family have moved where the Bridgmans were located.
A birthday surprise for Alvin Bley was held Friday evening in the Bley home. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Jake Bley, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Bley and family and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Bley and family.
Susan Hoff and Ruthie DeHart entertained members of the eighth grade class at a Christmas party in the Dwight Hoff home Friday evening. The evening was spent playing games, followed by refreshments.
Mrs. Kenneth Denker and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Taylor visited Mrs. Bill Denker and Henry Haarberg Sunday afternoon.

Worth Kanost and George Metcalf were guests of Dr. J. M. Willis at a McCook Chamber of Commerce luncheon last Wednesday noon at the Keystone Hotel.
Last Wednesday afternoon the Embroidery Club members were entertained at their annual Christmas party at the home of Mrs. L. A. Grimm with 14 children as special guests. Mrs. Nelson Burham and Mrs. J. W. Green assisted.
The Friendship club met last Thursday afternoon with Mrs. Harlan Stock.
Mrs. Kate Prior and family were in McCook Saturday.
J. A. Person attended an Equity meeting in McCook Friday.

Ross Ditton and family arrived from Wyoming on Monday’s train. He is figuring of renting a house in town.
Mrs. J. O. Ryan and daughter left for Juniata, Nebr., to visit her sister, Mrs. A. E. McCartney.
It pays to advertise: Eva Hanna found her watch in a cooky barrel in the store just after the paper came out last week.
