Next week eight Wauneta-Palisade FFA members will make the trip to Lincoln to participate in the State FFA Convention.
Nebraska FFA members and chapters will be honored for their accomplishments at the 85th Nebraska State FFA Convention held April 3-5, 2013.
The convention will be at The Cornhusker Marriott, Pershing Center Auditorium and University of Nebraska-Lincoln East Campus.
Wauneta-Palisade students will participate in four areas at the state convention.
Tayler Nordhausen will receive her State FFA Degree while the group is in Lincoln.
The State FFA Degree is the highest degree the state FFA association can bestow upon a member. Members are awarded the degree based upon their comprehensive Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) Program.
In order to earn the State FFA Degree FFA members must submit two years of SAE record books, complete the State FFA Degree application and meet all minimum qualifications as well as pass a test.
Three W-P FFA members will compete in the welding competition–Donald Hunt (oxy), Tyrel Kerchal (mig) and Joe Sramek (arc).
Four W-P FFA members will compete in the natural resources division–Nordhausen, Landon Jutten, Nicole Strand and Cameo Rector. The focus of this year’s natural resources competition is ecology.
Donald Hunt, John Christner and Nordhausen auditioned and were chosen to participate in the State FFA Honor Choir at the convention.
