In preparation for district music, bands from Wauneta-Palisade, Dundy County-Stratton, Hayes Center, Hitchcock County and Southwest met in Benkelman Tuesday, March 19.

Each school performed its own selection and then all schools performed together.

Dr. Duane Bierman from the University of Nebraska at Kearney led the combined bands in “Air for Band” and “Climb the Castle Walls.”

Dr. Bierman also led percussion members from the schools for a song called “Chair Jam.” The percussionists used chairs instead of drums.

District music will be Friday, April 19 in Imperial.

The day will include vocal and instrumental performances by area schools.

The school has also planned concerts Tuesday, April 30, for fifth through 12th grades and Tuesday, May 7, for prekindergarten through fourth grades.

A school musical is set for Saturday, April 27, and Sunday, April 28.
