It was a long trip home from Harrison Friday after the Wauneta-Palisade Broncos were defeated by Sioux County 14-46.
The Warriors scored first in the contest, but W-P was able to tie the game at six on a 52-yard touchdown pass from Chase Rathe to Hayden Pollmann.
Sioux County went on to score 40 unanswered points. W-P held the Warriors scoreless in the fourth quarter and scored its own touchdown on a Wes Anderjaska five-yard run.
Anderjaska led the Bronco rushing attack with 23 attempts and 137 yards.
Pollmann topped the receiving category with two catches for 65 yards.
Defensively, Anderjaska had 11 solo tackles and 13 total.
Coach Joseph Frecks said Anderjaska has been a great player and leader for the Broncos this year.
“He always sets a great example for the entire team with his effort and positive, competitive attitude,” said Frecks.
Chris Carl had six solo tackles.
Brody Nordhausen had a sack, caused a fumble and recovered it.
Gage Crowell had a sack.
Sioux County completed 8-14 passes for 205 yards.
The Warriors rushed for 129 yards on 26 carries.
W-P will look to pick up its first win of the season Friday when the team travels to 0-4 Maywood.
“Our entire team is doing a great job of keeping a positive attitude and giving their best effort in every practice and game,” said Frecks. “Coach Geier and I are very proud of our boys, and look forward to this week of practice and Friday’s game.”
Kickoff will be at 6:00 p.m. MT/7:00 p.m. CT.
