The Wauneta Breeze
Speech season is under way at Wauneta-Palisade Schools.
Last Saturday the Broncos were in North Platte for one of the biggest meets of the season.
“North Platte is a huge meet,” said sponsor Liz Noler. “There is a lot of competition and we were excited to be there.”
The OID team of Hayden Pollmann, Christi Christner, Leiauna Alberts, Nicole Strand and Landon Jutten, made the championship finals. Out of nine groups, WP placed seventh. Overall there were 64 OID groups and finals were broken down into championship finals and honors finals.
Saturday, Feb. 8, WP was in Sutherland for the Sailors Invitational.
According to Noler, the OID team placed first in both preliminary rounds and made finals. The team finished in third place.
Christner advanced to the finals of serious prose and finished sixth.
There are 11 students on the team, which has also been to meets in Wallace and Perkins County.
Noler said the Wallace meet was a good meet for people to get their feet wet. She said some students would have advanced to finals, but had to leave for basketball.
This week WP traveled to Culbertson Wednesday for the RPAC meet.
