Thirteen Wauneta-Palisade FFA students hope to round out a successful season with a good showing at the State FFA Convention next week.
Four teams have qualified for convention.
In December, the Natural Resources team of Landon Jutten, Tailor Lee, Nicole Strand and Cassidy Rathe won District XI and qualified.
In February, the Livestock Management team swept the competition in Curtis to qualify. Team members were Jutten, Lee, Rathe, Strand and Lesley Towery. Because they will be competing in other events, the junior team of Joseph Sramek, Ellie Lee, Cameo Rector, Tryssta Duvel, Stephanie Acosta and Billy Straub will compete in Lincoln. The junior team was sixth at Districts, finishing second behind the senior team in swine and horse and placing fourth in dairy.
The WP contingent was rounded out in March following welding and vet tech competitions.
In vet tech, the senior team of Towery, Strand, T. Lee and Rathe won the District to qualify for the State Convention. Towery and Strand tied for first place. T. Lee was third and Rathe fifth.
Students and sponsors Marilyn Houdek and Missy Duvel will leave Tuesday, April 8, for Lincoln and return that Saturday.
