Celeste Nicole Pankonin and Mathew Lloyd May were united in marriage at Saint Paul United Methodist Church in downtown Lincoln on Sunday, May 27.
Rev. Stephen Griffith officiated the afternoon ceremony.
Parents of the couple are Russ and Lori Pankonin and Tim and Tammy May, all of Imperial.
Grandmothers include Elna Johnson of Imperial, Hulda Pankonin of Grant and Shirley May and Agnes Wynne, both of Scottsbluff. Roses adorned the altar in memory of the couple’s grandfathers.
Serving as the bride’s matron of honor was her sister, Brooke Lutz. Bridesmaids were Robyn Johnson, the bride’s cousin, and Kylie Seger, Emily Yaw and Ellen Reichmuth, friends of the couple. Taylor Pugh served as the bride’s personal attendant.
Taylor and Michael May served as their brother’s best men. Groomsmen were Jay Martin, Tyler Legate and Lance Thorell, friends of the couple. Kevin Thomsen and Jim Ebke, friends of the couple, and Jeff Lutz, the bride’s brother-in-law, ushered the guests.
Flower girls were Tayvin and Preslin Lutz, the bride’s nieces, and ring bearer was Tatum May, the groom’s nephew. Austin Lutz, the bride’s nephew, served as greeter and program attendant.
Guest book attendants were Blayke Johnson and Molly Brandt, cousins of the bride. Duncan Brandt, the bride’s cousin, was videographer. Matt Penland was the reader during the ceremony and the bride’s cousin, Michelle Phifer, was the soloist.
A reception followed at the Cornhusker. Bruce and Lorain Vires and Skip and Kathe Martin, special friends of the couple, served as host couples.
The bride and groom, 2007 Chase County High School graduates, are making their home in Lincoln where the bride, a 2011 University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) graduate, is attending UNL graduate school to obtain her master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology. The groom, a 2012 UNL Business Administration and Marketing graduate, works at Hudl, a Lincoln-based software company offering sports technology support across the U.S. and internationally. |

Church of the Harvest in Olathe, Kan., was the setting for the March 16 wedding of Shana Wilson and Joseph Hlas.
Parents of the couple are Laddie and Anita Wilson of Olathe, Kan., and Harry and Gloria Hlas of Clutier, Iowa.
Pastor David Frech officiated the 6:00 p.m. double ring ceremony.
The bride, escorted to the altar by her dad and given in marriage by her parents, wore a soft white tulle ball gown with a floral sequin appliqued bodice. The skirt was of feathered detail with tiers of tulle and a chapel train. She chose an angel chapel length veil of delicate tulle.
Flower girls were Kaitlyn and Jadyn Kistner, nieces of the bride. They wore matching soft white dresses featuring a tank bodice and a full length ruffled organza skirt. A simple soft white satin sash accented the waist.
Caleb Hernandez, nephew of the groom, was the ring bearer.
Ushering the guests were Connor and Cale Brubaker, nephews of the bride, and Ben Proctor, nephew of the groom.
A buffet dinner reception and dance followed at LaJoie Events in Overland Park, Kan.
After a honeymoon to Maui the couple is making their home in Olathe, Kan. |

Kevin Carstensen and Jenna Britten were united in marriage on July 9, 2011, at the Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene in Council Bluffs, Iowa. A reception, plated dinner and dance followed the ceremony at the Holiday Inn @ Ameristar.
The bride is the daughter of Pam Britten of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and the late Roger Britten. The groom is the son of Jim and Joan Carstensen of North Platte, Neb.
The bride was escorted down the aisle by her older brother, Brian Britten.
The matron of honor was Joanna Kochenower of Denver, Colo., friend of the bride. Maid of honor was Stephanie Padilla of Lincoln, Neb., friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Amanda Britten of Omaha, Neb., sister-in-law of the bride, and Mallory Speck, also of Omaha, cousin of the bride.
The bride’s personal attendant was Emilie Macke, of Portland, Ore., friend of the bride.
The best man was Dan Kinzie of Kearney, Neb., friend of the groom. Groomsmen were Chad Carstensen of Omaha, brother of the groom, Craig Carstensen of Kearney, brother of the groom and Tyler Macke of Portland, Ore., friend of the groom.
Flower girl was Emilynn Speck of Omaha, second cousin of the bride.
Ushers were Sias Scherger and Paul Dodson, both of Omaha, Ian Broad of Denver, Colo., and Alex Tipton of St. Joseph, Mo.
Host couples were Cecilia and Dan Shultz of Council Bluffs, Iowa, aunt and uncle of the bride, Mary Hanson of North Platte, Neb., aunt of the groom, and Jacque Spangler of Lincoln, aunt of the groom.
The couple honeymooned in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.
The bride is a 2005 graduate of Wauneta-Palisade High School and a 2009 graduate of the University of Nebraska-Kearney. She is working towards her master’s degree and is a fourth grade teacher for Lincoln Public Schools.
The groom is a 2005 graduate of North Platte High School and a 2010 graduate of the University of Nebraska-Kearney. He is currently studying to be a Physician Assistant at Union College in Lincoln.

Kari Marie Cole and Cody James Noble exchanged wedding vows on Sept. 10, 2011, at Slattery Vintage Estates Vineyard in Nehawka, Neb.
The bride is the daughter of Jean Cole of Funk, Neb., and the late Richard Cole. The groom is the son of Steve and Nancy Noble of Wauneta, Neb. Grandparents of the groom are Shirley Noble of Albion, Neb., and the late Earvin Noble, Phyllis Yoder of Wauneta and Will Yoder of Lincoln, Neb.
The bride was escorted down the aisle by Dennis Bergstrom, personal friend of Jean Cole. Maid of honor was Amber Glaser, bridesmaid was Ashley Oberg and personal attendant was Meghan Gull, all friends of the bride.
Jon Wiedemeyer was best man and Greg Gilliand was groomsman, both friends of the groom.
The bride’s niece, Jacey Anderson, was the guest book attendant.
A reception and dance were also held at the vineyard following the ceremony. Host couple was Dustin and Jessica Noble of Gothenburg, Neb., brother and sister-in-law of the groom.
The couple enjoyed a honeymoon in Las Vegas and reside in Lincoln. |
