Elementary students visit Palisade Fire Hall

The Elementary students from the Palisade Attendance Center visited the Palisade Volunteer Fire Department’s fire hall Oct. 13 in participation with Fire Prevention Week. Fire fighters Shad Wiese, left, and Kirk Gates, right, showed students some of the tools the fire department would use in an emergency situation. Fire fighter Jason Hicks also showed students the different equipment fire fighters wear to protect themselves against flames and smoke. Hicks went over the different safety procedures students should know in case a fire ever broke out in their home. He explained that students should never hide during a fire or be scared of fire fighters as they are there to help get people to safety.
