Although moisture is something the majority of Nebraskans would never complain about, a more damaging form of precipitation is hail. There have been many thunderstorms that have rolled through the local area pouring down inches of much needed rain. However, last Wednesday, August 2, hail accompanied the rain damaging multiple area fields. Receiving damage that affected an entire field of corn located along Highway 6 were Wauneta natives Mick and Gina Strand who rent the pictured land from Virlon Dinnel. Corn stalks were stripped of leaves, and ears of corn were left badly bruised if not completely destroyed.
